August 29, 2024 – February 23, 2025
"left with your memories" is an intimate emotional exploration of older individuals experiencing memory loss, and the families who journey alongside them. Through a collection of paintings this exhibition captures the gradual erosion of an individual, and the profound impact on family and their caregivers.
These images portray an array of complex emotions that come with losing a loved one to memory loss. The depiction of vulnerability and loss encourage the viewer to engage with a subject that may make them feel uncomfortable. Most of these paintings are accented with previously owned fabrics that lend a sense of humanity to an otherwise stark subject. The influence from her residency here at the Charles Allis Museum can be found in the heavy use of patterns in her work.
Tracy’s extended family has been dealing with Alzheimer’s, vascular dementia, and lewy body dementia since 2007. She hopes to bring an awareness not only to families affected with dementia but an understanding and general empathy of aging people. Based in Milwaukee, her art has been shown throughout Wisconsin and in California. She received a BA in Studio Art from the University of Mary Washington in Virginia. She has been painting for 3 years after a 21 year hiatus to raise her family.
